As Chief of Staff in our fast-growth environment, you'll partner strategically with leadership while overseeing GEEIQ's operational and people functions. This role combines operational excellence with people leadership, acting as a force multiplier by building scalable processes, driving efficiency, and maintaining our cultural foundation for the next growth phase of our journey.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, forward-thinking, and thrives in fast-paced environments, with a natural ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Our success is built on strong in-person connections, therefore our structure is in-office 4 days a week. We're searching for candidates who want to be fully immersed in our company culture.

Reporting directly to the COO, you'll have significant autonomy to shape and implement operational strategies as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and operational optimisation projects, helping to drive operational excellence across the organisation
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards and KPIs
  • Drive documentation and standardisation of key business processes

Innovation & Technology Leadership:
  • Drive innovation across the organization by implementing cutting-edge operational solutions
  • Lead AI implementation initiatives to enhance business efficiencies and automate routine processes
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging emerging technologies to streamline operations
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technological adoption
  • Measure and report on efficiency gains achieved through technological innovation

Cross-Functional Operations:
  • Coordinate cross-departmental initiatives to improve operational efficiency
  • Support department heads in process optimisation
  • Facilitate internal communications regarding operational changes and initiatives
  • Manage operational risk assessment and mitigation strategies

People Operations Leadership:
  • Own the people strategy and roadmap, including career progression frameworks and development plans for existing staff, working with external HR consultants for specialised support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, escalating to COO as needed
  • Design and oversee employee onboarding and offboarding policies
  • Lead workforce planning and resource allocation in partnership with department heads
  • Build and maintain a robust talent development program that aligns individual growth with company objectives
  • Develop and implement staff retention and career advancement strategies to nurture internal talent
  • Oversee compensation and benefits administration
  • Champion company culture and values through operational excellence
  • Oversee company events and social activities

People Processes & Compliance:
  • Guide development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with UK Employment Laws and regulations
  • Oversee recruitment processes and talent acquisition strategies
  • Manage performance review processes and development programs
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and cultural programs
  • Establish mentorship and professional development programs to support staff growth

Operational Systems & Tools:
  • Manage and optimise key operational systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.)
  • Drive integration between operational tools and systems
  • Oversee data governance and operational compliance
  • Lead system implementation projects
  • Develop training programs for operational tools and processes

Business Operations Management:
  • Oversee office operations, facilities management, and workplace experience
  • Manage health and safety compliance and risk management

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in operations or transferable roles
  • Strong track record in process improvement and operational optimization
  • Experience managing external consultants and vendors
  • Background in scaling high-growth technology companies
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and managing operational systems
  • Demonstrated experience implementing AI tools to improve business operations and efficiencies
  • Track record of successful digital transformation initiatives
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement innovative technological solutions
  • Experience training and upskilling teams on new technologies and operational systems

Additional Requirements:
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Experience with data analysis and operational metrics
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in technology or startup environment of a similar size and stage
  • Understanding of virtual worlds and gaming industry beneficial

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in operational management tools and systems
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms
  • Knowledge of process mapping and optimisation tools
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies
